You Are Not Alone: National Unmarried and Single Americans Week

I don’t know whether to rejoice or curl up in child’s pose and sob for a few minutes: Next week (September 21-28) is apparently National USA Week, or National Unmarried and Single Americans Week.
How, exactly, is one supposed to celebrate this momentous occasion, I wonder?
I suppose you could email all of your exes and tell them how much happier you are that you’re not with them. Or, you could torment all of your married friends with stories of passionate, no-holds-barred casual sex. Even better, set up a “singles registry” for all the housewares and gifts you’d like to celebrate your singledom, since, hey, you’ve had to shell out for all of your betrothed buddies.
As for me? I’ll probably “celebrate” the week with cocktails. Lots and lots of cocktails.

I adore the registry idea. Maybe we could have an “I’m not getting married” shower. I’ve spent god knows how much money on friends’ bridal showers, wedding gifts, baby showers, etc. It’s my turn!

Wooty Woot! I like the thought of tormenting all my married friends with stories of passionate casual sex!!! I’ll need to start making phone calls and line ‘em up! Good thing I have a whole week to celebrate!

My goodness – I never even knew there was such a beast in the celebration calendar! Just the thing for all of us Singles – we just need an excuse to get out there and do it – and definitely the cocktails are the way to go. Move over Sex and the City!

whoohohoh a day for us who dont have to share the remote orrrrr our coktails
granted I would share with the right guy, but hey at least the nation is recogniszing us singles never married people I guess I feel special now lol
